October 21, 2024 – Tesla has announced a delay in the release of the highly anticipated Cybertruck range extender battery pack, pushing its availability to mid-2025. Initially scheduled for early 2025, the range extender is now expected to hit the market in the second half of next year.
The range extender battery pack, designed to be installed in the bed of the Cybertruck, was intended to provide a significant boost to the vehicle’s range. However, Tesla has also reduced the expected range increase. The dual-motor Cybertruck with the extender will now offer an estimated range of 445 miles (716 kilometers), down from the originally promised 470 miles (756 kilometers). Similarly, the tri-motor Cyberbeast will have a range of 440 miles (708 kilometers) with the extender, dropping to 415 miles (668 kilometers) when equipped with all-terrain wheels.
Despite the delay and revised range expectations, Tesla remains committed to delivering this valuable accessory. Priced at $16,000, the range extender will be a semi-permanent installation, occupying approximately one-third of the Cybertruck’s bed space.
Tesla’s continuous efforts to enhance the Cybertruck’s capabilities reflect the company’s dedication to innovation and customer satisfaction. As the new release date approaches, potential buyers eagerly await the improved performance and extended range that the Cybertruck range extender battery pack promises to deliver.
