November 8, 2024 – Vivian Jenna Wilson, the transgender daughter of tech mogul Elon Musk, has announced her plans to leave the United States following Donald Trump’s recent election victory. Wilson expressed her concerns over the political climate and its impact on her future, stating on her social media platform Threads, “I don’t see my future in the United States. I’ve thought this for a while, but yesterday confirmed it for me. Even if he’s only in office for four years, even if anti-trans regulations don’t materialize, the people who voted for this aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.”
Wilson, who legally changed her name and gender in April 2022, has been estranged from her father due to disagreements over her transition. She cited Musk’s transphobia and harsh parenting as reasons for their strained relationship. Musk, who has been a vocal supporter of Trump, has opposed Wilson’s transition, referring to her by her former name and claiming he was misled into allowing her to use puberty blockers.
In response to Wilson’s announcement, Musk reiterated his opposition, blaming the “woke mind virus” for her decision. Wilson, however, dismissed her father’s remarks, stating, “He doesn’t know what I was like as a child because he simply wasn’t there. I was relentlessly harassed for my femininity and queerness.”
Despite the mixed reactions from her followers, who offered both support and concern, Wilson remains determined to seek a more inclusive environment outside the US. Her decision highlights the broader challenges faced by the transgender community in the current political landscape.
